GCMS
KMC has begun the build out of a global filing cabinet where designers and instructors can store learning content in a standard form, meta tag it, catalog it, advance search globally and reuse when the need arises. This capability shall be a part of the KMC offering in 2010 and will transform the way clients can edit existing KMC courses and create new custom courses. Features include:
-
GCMS is focused on the development, management and publishing of content to be delivered on the KMC. This could include courses, modules, performance support files, expert forum answers, podcasts, and wikis. It also includes digital assets such as images, video, and audio.
-
GCMS is a multi-user environment where all global regions may create, store, reuse, manage, and deliver digital learning content from a central object repository.
-
The GCMS can create, manage and deliver not only training modules but also manage and edit all the individual pieces that make up a catalog of training.
-
GCMS applications allow users to create, import, manage, search for and reuse small units or 'chunks' of digital learning content/assets, commonly referred to as learning objects. A learning object is a resource, usually digital and web-based, that can be used, edited and re-used to support learning.
-
Learning objects offer a new conceptualization of the learning process: rather than the traditional "several hour chunk", they provide smaller, self-contained, re-usable units of learning.
-
These assets may include media files developed in other authoring tools, assessment items, simulations, text, graphics or any other object that makes up the content within the course being created. A GCMS manages the process of creating, editing, storing and delivering e-learning content, ILT materials and other training support deliverables such as job aids.
-
All courses are SCORM and AICC ready.
